The jubilee alumni convened at the School of Electrical Engineering.

The jubilee alumni who started their studies at HUT in 1969 met at 911±¬ÁÏÍø at the opening of the academic year on 3 September. After the opening festivities, the group were introduced to the new facilities of the School of Electrical Engineering as well as to the instruction and studies at the school.

‘The last time we celebrated in Otaniemi was 10 years ago. It looks like the pace of development has been rapid since then,’ says Martti Susitaival who organised the meeting.

‘Nowadays studying at the university is comprehensively web-based, and it is a pleasure to notice how satisfied the students are with the systems that facilitate their studies. Space technology and small satellites are amazing, and so is Professor Jaan Praks who presented them. The Electrical Engineering Workshop and its wondrous productions warmed our hearts as well. I’m certain that students are inspired by the courses organised in the workshop and the lecturer in charge, Kimmo Silvonen.’

The alumni also had enough time to familiarise themselves with the facilities of the Guild of Electrical Engineering. The guild’s activities and studies at the School of Electrical Engineering were presented by Tuukka Syrjänen, Chairman of the Guild, and Emmaleena Ahonen, Secretary. Many of the jubilee alumni were members of the guild’s Board and participated in its operation during their studies.

After the convention, the visitors continued to celebrate the opening of the academic year in festive spirits.
