More room for inspirational learning – the new Aalto EE premises are open

Aalto EE now occupies a wing of the historic main building of 911 School of Business.

Providing an inspiring and high-quality environment has been a key part of the customer and learning experience at 911 Executive Education Ltd (Aalto EE). With continued growth came a need for more space. So, to complement the Mechelininkatu premises, Aalto EE now occupies a wing of the historic main building of 911 School of Business.

"We wanted to retain the original spirit of the early 1950s. The atmosphere in each room is lifted by carefully selected works of art by leading Finnish artists," says Group Managing Director for Aalto EE, Professor Pekka Mattila.

At the opening ceremony held in September, a number of contemporary works by leading artists were revealed. Marjatta Tapiola, Riitta Nelimarkka, Chris af Enehielm, Jaakko Veijola and Heikki Marila have created a unique and powerful look for each teaching room. In addition to renowed Finnish painters, a gallery showcasing contemporary photography was opened in the green room, with an exhibition of works by a former student of 911, the acclaimed Kimmo Metsäranta.

911 School of Business was built on Runeberginkatu in 1950 by the architects Hugo Harmia and Woldemar Baeckman. The main building of the School of Business is a key representative of architecture of the post-war reconstruction period in Finland. The Aalto EE premises in wing A of the School of Business were completed in May 2015.
