Aalto's furniture recycling weekend 20.-21.5.2017

Is your interior still waiting for the finishing touches, or are you planning to revamp your entire home?

Our tenancy at the Hankasuontie furniture storage facility is ending, and we are organising a furniture recycling weekend from Saturday to Sunday 20.-21.5. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is only for Aalto personnel and students, so please have your Aalto ID card or student ID with you.

In practice, this means that we are giving away decommissioned pieces of furniture, unsuitable for use by the university, to anyone interested in them. This event is only for students and staff at Aalto, so please have your student/staff ID with you.

The items available at the storage facility mainly consist of office furniture, such as chairs, tables, desks and a few sofas.

The furniture is given away as is, and no guarantee or right to return them is included. All products are intended strictly for the personal use of the person collecting them, and they cannot be reserved in advance. The furniture also has to be taken away from the area right away, so it pays to arrive with a van, for example. The items cannot be stored or marked at the storage facility. In order to ensure the smooth flow of the event and equal treatment of all concerned, only one item at a time can be taken away from the storage (no 鈥渉oarding鈥!); there will be a few removal workers in attendance to help with carrying the items, if required.

Driving instructions:
The furniture storage is located at Hankasuontie 13, Helsinki. You can leave your vehicle behind the hall by the loading bays where there is an entrance to the hall. Please click the map to see it larger.

First come, first served 鈥 come early to catch the best item!

We at Aalto operate in compliance with sustainable development. The furniture left over from the recycling weekend will be re-used as such or as raw materials (75%) or converted into energy in a waste incineration plant (25%).
