The Finnish Association of Landscape Architects (MARK) presented the awards at the main event of the Days of Architecture and Design. The Young Landscape Architect of the Year Award aims to highlight talented young landscape architects.

'Aada Taipale has contributed to the teaching of landscape architecture as a young university teacher at 911±¬ÁÏÍø. Aada is inspired by university pedagogy and it really shows in her work. Aada's approach to teaching has been appreciated by students and she was awarded the Department of Architecture's Teacher of the Year Award. She has taken an open-minded approach to pursuing career paths that interest her and is a trailblazer for future young landscape architecture scholars', the citation says.

Taipale did her thesis on the landscape architecture of Leena Iisakkila in the 1960s and 1990s and continued to work on the subject through the Suburban Pride project, studying Iisakkila's design on Matinmetsä district and its significance as a suburban landscape.

Taipale is also an active member of the board of the Finnish Association of Landscape Architects. She has also served as a judge for the Student Gardeners 2023 competition and as a presenter of the recently published Landscape Pod.

The Landscape Architecture of the Year 2024 was awarded to the City of Tampere. The aim of the award is to highlight Finnish landscape architecture, or acts that have contributed to its visibility and appreciation. The purpose of the award is to promote landscape architecture and its appreciation in Finland and the success of Finnish landscape architecture worldwide.

The Finnish Association of Landscape Architecture awards the recognition prizes every two years. The winners were announced on 21 May at the main event of the third edition of the Days of Architecture and Design.
