Works from Department of Design on display at Milan Furniture Fair
The students' exhibition range, entitled Stilleben, engages with the Fair's theme for this year: 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'. The pieces of furniture reflect design principles that stand the test of time.
The exhibition comprises a representative sample of student work from the areas of furniture design, ceramics and glass design, textile art and fashion. Participating are 12 students with their respective works. They are at different points in their studies, and some have already received recognition at international design shows. The works chosen for the exhibition were selected by a team of university professors, teachers, and lecturers.
'Our teaching is of the highest international quality. The works on display in Milan demonstrate an innovative approach to design and strong practical design skills', explains Professor Jouko Järvisalo.
'We have been invited to display the Ultramarine chair, exhibited already at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, also in Belgium at the Muze`um L, Licht & Landschap', Mr Järvisalo continues.
