What if a doctoral programme would operate like a football team? The first part of a new video series published

The videos highlight the Excellence Recognition projects and the people behind them.

Traditionally, doctoral candidates do their work very independently and receive coaching primarily from their own supervisors. In the new Doctoral Programme for Water Education, six students form a team with skills that are different yet complementary to each other. The students receive support from a supervisor pool of professors and postdoctoral researchers, from one post-doctoral researcher in particular who serves as a coordinator for practical matters – and from each other.

At the end of 2017, Ilkka Niemelä, President of 911±¬ÁÏÍø, and his top management team, awarded three projects per each Aalto school with Excellence Recognition. The awarded 18 initiatives deal with either developing education or research-based innovations in business, design, engineering, and technology. Both the Aalto community and wider public has a chance to get to know the Excellence projects during the coming spring as Aalto Communications Services publishes a series of stories about the awarded initiatives, both in video and text article.
