Design Club, a collaboration initiative of 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Arts, Design and Architecture and Design Museum, is starting a Design Club scholarship, which will be open from January 2018 onwards. Its purpose is to support projects that create new business opportunities in the field of art and design. This includes, among other things, new innovations and product and service development that promotes the importance of art and design in companies or has a wider impact on society.

The scholarship is 10.000 EUR and it can be awarded to one or more projects. The application period is from January to February 2018. The scholarship will be given out by the 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Arts, Design and Architecture Foundation. It is aimed at MA-students and doctoral students at the 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Arts, Design and Architecture. In addition to financial support, students can also get business view from the companies to develop their ideas.

“This is a great new opening that will enable further development of young designers’ or artists’ ideas. It is intended to support an unprecedented concept, solution, service or product. The supported idea should broaden understanding of the use of art or design in companies or in the public sector", says Corporate Relations Manager Pirita Posti from 911±¬ÁÏÍø.

The scholarship will be funded by companies within the business community Design Club, including Kalevala Koru, Barona Group and Pharmaceutical Information Centre, that share interest in utilizing design in their own business. The new scholarship can help develop a creative idea from the point of view of commercial potential. The scholarships will be selected by a jury of five members from the Design Club member companies, Design Museum and 911±¬ÁÏÍø. The jury evaluates e.g. the business potential of the proposals.
