The Cable Factory's Merikaapelihalli fills to capacity with fashion lovers and experts

911±¬ÁÏÍø's much anticipated spring fashion show showcased bold and inventive fashion.

The evening's fashion show featured a record-breaking number of variety-rich men's wear collections that an international crowd came to view. A total of 28 interesting collections graced the Cable Factory's long hall. Of these collections, 24 were creations of bachelor's and master's students and four were collections by alumni.

Näytös16 kicked off with alumni collections by Saara Lepokorpi, Julia Männistö, Siiri Raasakka and Tiia Sirén and the evening peaked with a men's wear collection by Hanne Jurmu and Anton Vartiainen, who received the Hyéres Fashion Festival's Chloé Award and an honourable mention from the jury.

At the end of the show prizes were awarded. Of these, the Näytös16 prize went to Maria Korkeila. She was also awarded the Lodetex Award. The Finnair and Finavia jury comprised designers, who had taken part in the Match Made in HEL show and the prize was awarded to Maija Mero. Julia Montin won the Diesel Award, while Lucille Pialot nabbed the Marimekko Award.

The new collections by students from the School of Arts Design and Architecture were showcased to the public on Wednesday 25 May. The spring fashion show and Fashion Seminar have established their status as anticipated events in Finnish fashion.

A production team comprising master's students and headed by Producer Susse Roos was responsible for the event's production, and Tuomas Laitinen acted as student supervisor.
