Tell us about yourself?

I am an alumna of 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Business and I work in economics consulting as an analyst. I started my studies in 2014 and graduated with a master’s degree in economics and business administration in 2019. I majored in economics, and my minors included business law, the Information Technology Program (ITP) and international studies minor (student exchange).

Your memories when studying at the School of Business?

I had a great time at the university. I participated in many student organizations (e.g., NESU, Slush, Aaltoes, Aalto Economics) and enjoyed the classes offered by the university. I feel that students have a wonderful opportunity to create a diverse and unique university experience. You could challenge yourself in classes and later, reflect on the topics with friends. Meanwhile, I also enjoyed the meaningful work done in student organizations and the joyous events.

During my time at the university, I got a chance to collect plenty of amazing memories. However, I find that the most meaningful ones relate to situations where I had to step out of my comfort zone and participate in creating something meaningful. I believe that by giving a lot of effort to a cause, you can also get the most out of it. I find it exceptional how much responsibility you can receive in student organizations if you are just willing to seize the opportunities.

For alumni, I would warmly recommend participating in alumni activities, either through School of Business or student / alumni associations.

Tell us about your career and how studying at the School of Business prepared you for working life?

Since graduating, I have worked in economics consulting. Hence, my major in economics has been extremely useful. The high-quality teaching, interesting courses and helpful professors in the Department of Economics at the School of Business have certainly contributed to guiding my career choice. In addition, I feel that the stimulating atmosphere of the university and the flexibility it offers have had a great impact, as these gave me the opportunity and time to develop and find meaningful goals.

What inspired you to donate to the School of Business?

The time I spent at 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Business has had a great impact on my life, and I am grateful to my university and to the people that have helped me there. University life was a valuable experience for me. Donating felt like the appropriate way to show my appreciation towards 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Business.

Your birthday wishes or greetings to the 110-year-old School of Business?

Congratulations to the School of Business on the honorable age of 110! I believe that the School of Business has had a positive impact on the lives of many, both within the School and in our society at large. I am confident that you will continue your good work at the School of Business in the future as well.

Your greetings to other School of Business alumni and current students?

I would like to encourage students to try things that interest them, be it course choices, student organization activities or participation in events. The pandemic has certainly shaped students’ experiences, and especially for those who have started their studies in recent years. As life now normalizes, I want to encourage all students to build the kind of university experience they want.

For alumni, I would warmly recommend participating in alumni activities, either through 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Business or student / alumni associations. During my time as a student, I was excited about the opportunity to meet alumni and learn from them, and I believe many current students feel the same.

Our warmest thanks to you Krista for supporting the School of Business and sharing your story with us!
