The cooperation brings business-oriented and practice-relevance driven teaching in business information systems to students.

Department of Accounting of 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Business continues cooperation with Knowit Oy in teaching management and accounting information systems.

Thanks to the cooperation the School of Business offers business-oriented and practice-relevance driven teaching in business information systems to students who are close to graduation in the Master’s Program in Accounting. The students will get the most up-to-date knowledge of business and accounting information systems and information management.

Business and accounting information systems are nowadays increasingly more integrated with other information systems of an organization. Accounting graduates must be able to use these applications and understand their role as a part of organizations’ information systems. Information systems play an important role in daily work of an accounting graduate and especially information management and business intelligence tools are all the time becoming increasingly important in all fields of industries.

Teaching is based more and more on the most recent research knowledge and the skills needed in the business life.

'The latest research findings suggest that the development of information systems has shaped the required skills for accounting professionals. They must be able to better analyze the data provided by the business information systems. The analyses can genuinely support the management’s decision-making in increasingly complex business environment,' says Teemu Malmi, director of the Department of Accounting of School of Business.

'We are renewing our teaching based on the students’ feedback and the needs of business life,' he continues.

'Information systems are an important part in accounting and finance professionals’ daily work and especially the importance of Master Data Management (MDM) and Business Intelligence (BI) systems is increasing in all businesses,' says Ville Särmälä, CEO of Knowit Oy.
