Over 12 000 applicants to Bachelor’s programmes

Number of applicants increased from last year.

In the joint application to higher education this spring, a total of 12 567 people applied to 911±¬ÁÏÍø. The number increased from last year, as the number of applicants in 2018 was 11 898. The number of first priority applicants was 8 510 and up 15% from last year.

The number of applicants to the Finnish Bachelor’s programme in the field of Business and Economics was 5 074. Of these, 3 201 were first priority applicants, which means a 15% increase. In the English-speaking International Business programme in Mikkeli the number of applicants was 781. The new English-speaking Economics Bachelor’s programme had 487 applicants.

In the field of Science and Technology there were 5 412 applicants. Of these, 3 221 were first priority applicants, which means a 15% increase. The number of applicants includes applicants who apply based on Open University studies and MAOL-competitions, and also the 723 applicants who applied for the English-speaking Bachelor’s Programme in Science and Technology. The number of first priority applicants increased the most, over 25 %, for Computer Science.

In the field of Art and Design we saw 2 041 applicants. Of these, 1 539 were first priority applicants, which means a 15% increase there as well.  The number of first priority applicants increased the most, 20%, for interior architecture.

All numbers are based on the reports taken from the Studyinfo service right after the application period finished. This means that the number may vary a bit later on when the reports are updated and the handling of applications starts.

Results of the joint application to higher education will be published on 28 June 2019 at the latest.
