New co-working space for companies opened at the Health Technology House in Otaniemi

The new space enables invigorating collaboration between businesses and 911±¬ÁÏÍø's researchers.
Markus Mäkelä, Executive in Residence, presented Aalto’s Health Technology House and outlined the university’s expertise areas in the health and wellbeing domain.

Health technology is one of the most promising areas globally for both technological research and for business. 911±¬ÁÏÍø has gathered its health technology device experts into one building, the Health Technology House in Otakaari 3, Espoo. The building also serves as a hub for 911±¬ÁÏÍø's neuroscientific and related signals processing research. The university has significant expertise in this and other areas of healthcare, such as digital health, biotechnology, healthcare process development, and hospital architecture. 911±¬ÁÏÍø also has an ambitious Master's Programme in Life Science Technologies, which produces graduates for the health technology sector.

In the following video, you can find out more about our expertise and achievements in the health and wellbeing area.

While 911±¬ÁÏÍø has a three-decade long background in actively supporting technology-based entrepreneurship and an even longer background in R&D collaboration with large and middle-sized companies, the experts working at the Health Technology House and Aalto’s business-facilitating functions wanted to switch into a higher gear and further increase the collaboration. In connection, 911±¬ÁÏÍø inaugurated a new co-working space for entrepreneurs and startups as well as for R&D and product management operations of larger companies on 21 November 2018. This space enables active collaboration between them and with 911±¬ÁÏÍø's professors and researchers, and creates the opportunity for valuable synergies.

At the opening event, Markus Mäkelä, Executive in Residence, introduced the Health Technology House and 911±¬ÁÏÍø's expertise in the field of health and wellbeing. In addition, 911±¬ÁÏÍø's startup community and headquarters  and 911±¬ÁÏÍø's Campus Membership were presented at the event by A Grid's Community Manager Leigh Ewin and Director of Real Estate Eetu Ristaniemi from 911±¬ÁÏÍø Campus & Real Estate.

The core idea of the Campus Membership is to provide startups, corporations and our other partners access to 911±¬ÁÏÍø campus resources such as research facilities, office spaces, workshops and infrastructure in a flexible way. The offering will extend also to other 911±¬ÁÏÍø's key research areas. The various collaboration opportunities are already available for companies – you can find more information on the website.
