Master’s thesis position for developing and testing a software radio based NB-IoT base station

Want to develop RRC layer for NB-IoT base station with C++? Come to work with top unit in communications and networking!

The Department of Communications and Networking (Comnet) is a multi-disciplinary unit of research and higher education covering communications and networking technology, networking business and human aspects of communication and communications technology. In its area, Comnet is the largest unit in Finland. Comnet develops communications, information and teletraffic theory and conducts fundamental and applied experimental research in communications and networking technology. In shaping the Internet technology it is a significant force internationally.

Comnet has 11 professors, 107 employees and turnover of 7,3 M€. Approximately 55 MSc students and half of dozen PhD students get their degrees annually.

In this work you will be a member of a team developing Nb-IoT base station. The BS is implemented in C++ language and currently we have the basis system architecture and multiple physical and RRC layer functions in place. Your task will be to add new RRC layer functions and test these functions.

A suitable candidate is expected to have basic knowledge of radio transmission technologies and in C language. A genuine interest in programming would be beneficial. The work will be started during the spring, the details will be agreed with the selected candidate.
