Master’s programmes attracted a record number of applications
911±¬ÁÏÍø received a total of 12 197 applications from 7 965 applicants to master’s programmes in the application period that ended 2 January 2023. The field of science and technology received 8 446 applications, art and design 2 247 applications, and business and economics 1 504 applications. The number of applications grew by 44% compared to the previous year.

In science and technology, the two most popular programmes were Computer Science and Machine Learning, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. In art and design, Collaborative and Industrial Design and Creative Sustainability received the most applications. In business and economics, the two programmes with the most applicants were Business Analytics and Yritysjuridiikka (Business law, available only in Finnish). The chart-climber of the year was Biomass Refining, which received 114% more applications compared to the previous year.
Aalto received applications from 117 countries. The highest number of international applications came from Pakistan and China. 79% of the applicants were international applicants who have completed their bachelor's or equivalent degree outside Finland. In the previous year, the share of international applicants was 73%.
The recent application period was organised for 911±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s two-year master’s degree programmes, which are for applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent studies. In the master’s admissions, there were 71 master’s programmes open for application. In addition to these applicants, students who complete their bachelor’s studies at Aalto can continue directly to their master’s studies at Aalto.
The upcoming application period for bachelor’s programmes in English runs 4–18 January 2023, and the application period for Finnish and Swedish bachelor’s programmes is 15–30 March 2023.
The master’s admission results will be published 29 March 2023 at the earliest.
