International community proposes better practices of research for advanced fuel cells

Single-component fuel cell is a promising clean energy technology, but needs more standard practices and procedures in research and development to reach commercialization. Here 15 scientists from different disciplines present ways to accelerate the progress of this new fuel cell technology

Single-component fuel cell is a promising clean energy technology, which demonstrates unique characteristics and possess potential for a technological breakthrough. But this technology is still hampered by fundmental questions such as lacking theoretical explanation of experiments and repeatability of these. During the Nanoenergy 2017 conference at 911±¬ÁÏÍø in Espoo in July 2017, a special session sponsored by the Academy of Finland was arranged around these issues.

As an outcome, 15 leading scientists from different disciplines presented a joint viewpoint on the ways to accelerate the progress of this new fuel cell technology, in particular the need to establish more standard practices and procedures in research. A full version of the viewpoint was recently published in ACS Energy Lett. 2017, 2, 2752-2755; DOI: 10.1021/acsenergylett.7b00997

Companies disclose more on cybersecurity – but markets remain indifferent

U.S. companies are reporting on cybersecurity in greater detail, yet stock market reactions remain muted. A new study by the University of Vaasa and 911±¬ÁÏÍø shows that mandatory cybersecurity disclosure does not prompt reactions from investors or stock analysts. Instead, the main benefits appear to materialise within firms themselves.
