The Finnish Association of Electrical Safety (STEK) has donated two Voimala learning packages to 911±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s Aalto Junior.

‘Voimala is designed for pupils in basic education from fifth class onwards. It is a learning package that teaches school kids about the production, storage and use of renewable energy. Exercises in the package help pupils understand how much electricity is needed for different functions, and how much energy is required for the production of this amount of electricity’, STEK’s Managing Director Timo Kekkonen says.

‘Knowledge of electrical phenomena is very important, as energy is needed everywhere. Sensible energy use is beneficial for the users, and, in particular, for our shared environment. The Voimala exercise package teaches the basics of energy supply to pupils in basic education, while also encouraging them to learn more about electricity’, Professor and Director of Aalto Junior Ilkka Tittonen says.

‘Voimala has shown that young people are interested in doing things themselves. I believe that Aalto Junior is a great motivator for all age groups’, Kekkonen adds.

The Voimala package was designed for STEK during the Finland 100 jubilee year by non-fiction author and inventor Janne Käpylehto in collaboration with a team of teachers and specialists. To commemorate the 100 years of independence in Finland, STEK donated Voimala to one hundred schools of basic education. Read more about the donations on website for teachers.
