Gary Marquis continues as Dean of School of Engineering

Professor Gary Marquis, D.Sc. (Tech.) has been appointed for a second term as Dean of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Engineering.

The term is five years and starts on 1 July 2018. Marquis has served as Dean of the School of Engineering since 2013.

'Gary Marquis is a visionary and determined leader. The School of Engineering has undergone great transformation in recent years and its academic results have improved considerably. I’m pleased that he will continue in his position', says Kristiina Mäkelä, Provost of 911±¬ÁÏÍø.

'I’m excited to be able to continue developing our school and, together with our faculty, staff, students and stakeholders, head towards excellence', says Marquis.

Marquis’ reappointment was based on a comprehensive assessment, taking into account the School’s results, the staff survey as well as interviews with professor, staff and student representatives, a report and school development plan submitted by the dean, and an interview with the dean.

Dean is responsible for directing the school’s activities and taking part in the long-term development of 911±¬ÁÏÍø as a member of its Management Team. Dean is responsible for the overall development and international competitiveness of the school, for allocating its resources and for recruiting faculty. Dean reports to the provost.
