Future-proof teaching: Call for Good and Next Practices

Last day to apply for pilot funding for courses that aim to enhance students’ work-life competences!
The application deadline is today on the 28th of March. We provide support in developing the pilots further so don't hesitate to submit an evolving idea!

Aalto community, we ask now for your valuable input on designing better teaching and learning - Teaching Lab calls for Good and Next Practices:

  1. Do you know some internal resources or courses that support work-life relevant education?

    We call for from all Aalto people about future-proof and work-life relevant education to create a good practices section to our webpage for teachers.
     

  2. Do you need support in integrating work-life relevance into your teaching?

    We call for pilot ideas from the Aalto community on integrating work-life relevance into teaching and learning (such as work-life competences, industry projects, industry interaction). We support courses and programs that aim to enhance students’ work-life skills up to 10,000 euro funding. Deadline for proposals is today 28th March.

Good practices for future-proof education

We know that there are brilliant practices, tools, and resources among the teaching faculty and now we want to know about YOUR good practice and share it with others.

The idea of the evolving good practices section to our website is to link Aalto teachers from different schools through internal resources and best practices that promote future-proof education, work-life relevance, and connections with industry and other organizations during studies. Example of such resource can be, for example, for student projects. Also, existing Aalto courses and programs, which provide some great examples of future-proof education, will be listed. One example could be a summer program commissioned by the business partners. This way teachers and education developers can learn from one another by viewing the best projects and cases made at 911±¬ÁÏÍø.

In summary: We call for good practices from all Aalto people about future-proof and work-life relevant education. The good practice can be an internal Aalto resource or an existing Aalto course or program which supports the integration of work-life competences or external partnerships into teaching and learning. Are you currently teaching a course which promotes work-life competences? Or perhaps you know of an Aalto resource that fits into the same category?

Next Practices for 2019-2020 with integrated work-life capabilities

We also call for pilot ideas from the Aalto community (faculty, program directors, researchers, staff) on challenge-based learning and integrating work-life competences into teaching and learning. We support courses and programs, which are committed to providing accelerated education experiences and enhancing students’ work-life skills.

Aalto students need to stay competitive in the local and global labour market. We can build competitiveness with a change of mindset, focused on engaging students in work life during their studies and encouraging them to solve real-life challenges. Building students’ work-life capabilities is one of Aalto’s critical strategic priorities, and real-life project courses are one key way to enhance these capabilities.

The best proposals will receive up to 10,000 euro funding support for initiation and piloting; ongoing costs will need to be covered from regular budgets or other sources once the course is up and running. Deadline for next practice proposals is 28th March at noon.
