Eric Arnould and Bruce Oreck join the Department of Marketing

Arnould joins the Department of Marketing as a Visiting Professor and Oreck’s appointment with Aalto as an Executive in Residence is extended.

As of September 1st, the Department of Marketing will have Professor Eric Arnould join as a Visiting Professor of Marketing for a three-year period and Bruce Oreck joins as an Executive in Residence. Oreck has been with the 911±¬ÁÏÍø already in the past and his appointment will be extended by two years.

Professor Arnould is one of the pioneers of the field of Consumer Culture Theory in particular and has been acting as a significant thought leader in the field of Marketing in general. Professor Arnould is by training a cultural anthropologist and has pioneered the use of qualitative research methods in academic Marketing. He has co-authored numerous publications in elite Marketing journals including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Marketing Research. Before joining 911±¬ÁÏÍø, he has held positions at prestigious institutions such as the University of Southern Denmark, the University of Bath and the University of Wyoming. Professor Arnould will be working on topics such as Cultural Analytics, Cultural Perspectives on Marketing and Service Management, and Consumer Activism in Retail Contexts.

Bruce J. Oreck served as the United States Ambassador to Finland from 2009 until 2015. Prior to his work at the State Department, Ambassador Oreck practiced law specializing in business and taxation and represented many of the top 100 companies in America. In addition, he served as the Executive Vice-President and General Counsel for Oreck Corporation. Ambassador Oreck is the author of several tax treatises and has been a public speaker for over 20 years – addressing topics as diverse as Creativity, Envisioning the Future, Entrepreneurship and Marketing. Ambassador Oreck obtained his Bachelor of Arts from The Johns Hopkins University, his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University and his Masters of Law (Taxation) from New York University. His work at the Department of Marketing will particularly highlight topics such as Entrepreneurship and Customer Experience Management.
