English bachelor’s programmes attract both international and Finnish applicants

The number of applications to 911±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s English-taught bachelor’s programmes grew by 20%

The application period for 911±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s bachelor’s programmes that are taught in English ended 18 January 2023. Aalto received a total of 8 763 applications, which indicates a 20% growth compared to the previous year. The number of applicants was 4 962. The field of art and design received 621 applications, business and economics 2706 applications, and science and technology 5 436 applications. Growth was also seen in the recently ended application period to master’s programmes that attracted a record number of applications.  

In this application to English bachelor’s programmes, Aalto received applications from 134 countries. 66% of the applications came from international applicants who completed their previous degree outside Finland.

In the field of art and design, the Bachelor’s Programme in Design received 621 applications. In business and economics, the Bachelor’s Programme in Economics and in International Business received 1 477 and 1 229 applications, respectively. The latter programme operates in Mikkeli. Of the five study options taught in English in the field of science and technology, Chemical Engineering received 755 applications, Computational Engineering 1 285, Data Science 1 722, Digital Systems and Design 958, and Quantum Technology 716 applications.  

The recently ended application period was organised for the English-taught bachelor’s programmes that start in autumn 2023. The results of the admissions will be published 2 June 2023 at the latest. The next application period for bachelor’s programmes in Finnish and Swedish runs 15–30 March 2023.
