What comes to your mind when you think of design?

If you only associate the word with arts and creative practices, you are surely not alone, nor necessarily wrong. But design is also much more. It has a massive role in how we see, experience, and make sense of the world around us. Despite that, its vast role in our everyday lives often goes unnoticed.

If you would like to extend your understanding about design and its role and relevance in different contexts, DesignTalks is made for you. All talk recordings are now available for everyone who is interested in exploring the concept of design further.

Seven sessions discuss the relevance of design and explain how it is present all around us and why does it matter. Each DesignTalks event brings together a professor from Aalto and an external professional, to shed a light upon the role of design within some specific context, from sustainability to business, cities, research and creativity.

The concept bridges Aalto professors' vast knowledge, research, and expertise in design with hands-on experience and insights from the experts in the field. Together these two voices offer a comprehensive but easy-to-digest overview of design in different contexts.

All the recordings are available below. Start from the beginning or pick the ones that interest you the most. A word of warning – you might end up going through them all!

Design Talks lecture series took place during December 2021 and May 2022. The series complements and continues an introductory online course to design, .

Lecture series is organized by the Design Inside initiative in collaboration with Radical Creativity.
