Closer collaboration between Supercell and 911±¬ÁÏÍø

Supercell has granted EUR 250,000 for 911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Arts, Design and Architecture.

The donation opens a closer collaboration between the gaming company and 911±¬ÁÏÍø. The government’s promise of matched-funding significantly adds to the impact of the donation.

The School of Arts, Design and Architecture educates, for example, digital media and game design professionals, visual designers, design and film industry professionals and architects. The school was ranked 13th on the list of best design and arts schools in the group of 1,600 universities (QS 2017).

The operation of 911±¬ÁÏÍø will be concentrated in Otaniemi, where an internationally unique science, arts and technology campus is being developed. The new digital media centre, Aalto Studios, is being built as part of the ambitious campus vision, and it will become a unique product development, research and education concentration that will grasp the sector’s global opportunities.

‘911±¬ÁÏÍø School of Arts, Design and Architecture plays a major role in the success of the Finnish creative sector as well as in the Finnish industry on a wider scope. Our know-how improves user-orientation, design thinking as well as understanding of creative practices. We are very grateful for Supercell’s support and we are eagerly waiting for our collaboration to become closer’, says 911±¬ÁÏÍø Vice President and School of Arts, Design and Architecture Dean Anna Valtonen.

â€˜Finland is already one of the best places in the world to develop games. We hope that the co-operation we're starting with Aalto will make it even better. We want to make Finland the undisputed nexus of the world, a sort of Hollywood for gaming. We'll achieve this goal if we can attract not only Finnish talent, but also top international minds. We believe that the multidisciplinary bedrock of Aalto and, in particular, the Aalto Studios project might play a crucial role in this regard. Aalto Studios might well become the best product development, research and educational hub in the world’, explains Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen.

The role of Otaniemi as a remarkable collaboration and innovation platform for both domestic and international researchers, students, start-ups and companies keeps on growing. The objective is to build a lively campus environment with its apartments, restaurants and services.
