Best Paper Award at UbiComp 2014 to Aalto researchers

The article presents new, secure and scalable ways of configuring and managing ubiquitous displays.

The research article "Secure Bootstrapping of Cloud-Managed Ubiquitous Displays" by Mohit Sethi, Elena Oat, Mario Di Francesco, and Tuomas Aura received the Best Paper Award at the ACM International Joint Conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing (UbiComp 2014) in Seattle.

This article presents new, secure and scalable ways of configuring and managing ubiquitous displays. The results are important because inexpensive digital displays are replacing printed paper in many everyday applications such as advertising posters, price tags, and office bulletins, and the number of digital displays in our daily working and living environment will explode. The work combines research expertise in embedded computing, mobile and online services, and computer networking.

UbiComp is the premier interdisciplinary publication venue in ubiquitous and pervasive computing. As one of the top-ranked international conferences in computer science, it receives more than 450 submissions annually.

Companies disclose more on cybersecurity – but markets remain indifferent

U.S. companies are reporting on cybersecurity in greater detail, yet stock market reactions remain muted. A new study by the University of Vaasa and 911±¬ÁÏÍø shows that mandatory cybersecurity disclosure does not prompt reactions from investors or stock analysts. Instead, the main benefits appear to materialise within firms themselves.
