Architectural week in libraries this week
Finland's exhibition at the ongoing Venice Architecture Biennale presents, in the light of various themes, seventeen Finnish library buildings from different eras, highlighting a particular feature of each one. The Harald Herlin Learning Center is one of the exhibited buildings. The Venice Architectural Biennale is the world's most important exhibition of architecture in different countries.
The exhibition Mind-Building, produced by Architecture Information Centre Finland Archinfo, introduces the development of Finnish library architecture through times, ending up with Helsinki Central Library Oodi, to be opened in December 2018.
The exhibition has altered Finland’s biennale pavilion designed by Alvar Aalto to a library space. In the exhibition, you can watch videos, listen to music, or even download your phone while reading literature.
During the architectural week libraries raise the issue of architectural literature and provide different perspectives on the architecture of their library buildings. For browsing there is also Mind-Building catalog.
Exhibition is open in Harald Herlin Learning Center in Otaniementie 9, 2nd floor.
