Aalto to start e-diploma system in autumn 2025

Students graduating in July 2025 will receive a paper certificate, while students graduating in August 2025 will receive an electronic one.

The electronic degree certificate is an official original document bearing the digital signature of the school dean.

The electronic degree certificate is more reliable than a paper certificate, since it is considerably more difficult to forge. It is also easily authenticated in e.g. the certification service of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. In addition, it can simplify a student’s job search, as it can be easily included as a digital attachment in an online application form.

Most Finnish universities have already switched to using electronic degree certificates. Aalto is currently preparing its migration to the new system. We will inform you as the project proceeds.
