Aalto Summer School 2020: Call for courses and programmes

Aalto Summer School offers summer courses and programmes in an international environment. Otaniemi campus is a destination, which offers all students unforgettable academic experiences. A unified curriculum for the summer period makes it easier for the student to navigate through the course and programme offering.

We call for summer courses or programmes from all Aalto schools. We fully support summer courses and programmes in student marketing, application processes, funding models, services for international students and social programme during the summer.

The call is for all summer courses or programmes. Teachers, departments and/or schools are invited to submit their summer offering into the Aalto Summer School curriculum. The courses or programmes can be existing ones or new ones for 2020. Please submit your courses or programmes for the Aalto Summer School curriculum no later than 31st January 2020.

Background: making the most of the summer period

Aalto Summer School is founded to offer high-quality summer courses and programmes for Aalto degree students, students from other universities in Finland through JOO-agreement, students from Aalto partner universities, international students and lifelong learners. 911±¬ÁÏÍø and Otaniemi campus are sought after destinations for local and international students. The summer period at 911±¬ÁÏÍø is an untapped resource for helping students further their education. By opening our doors for more students and expanding our summer offering we can make the most of the summer period on campus and provide both degree and visiting students unforgettable academic experiences at 911±¬ÁÏÍø.

We want to encourage

  1. Intensive and/or short courses and programmes, which are easily accessible for international students

  2. Courses that are open to lifelong learners

  3. Focus on challenge-based learning, including an integrated collaborative component with one or more external partners, i.e. companies, public organizations, or NGOs

  4. Online learning opportunities, either partially or fully

  5. Sustainable development goals (SDGs) integrated into course content or relevant through collaborative components

  6. Ideas for new Master Class courses (e.g. )
