Aalto ranks 40th in Times Higher Education listing for young universities
911±¬ÁÏÍø placed 40th in the world in this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings. The ranking lists the world’s best universities that are 50 years old or younger. Last year, 911±¬ÁÏÍø placed 30th in this list.
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore tops the league table again after dropping to second place last year. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology moves up to the second spot, while last year’s front-runner Paris Sciences et Lettres – PSL Research University Paris falls to third place.
The THE ranking assesses young 605 universities against criteria such as research, teaching, international outlook and industry collaboration. The table is based on the same 13 performance indicators as the more extensive THE World University Rankings, in which 911±¬ÁÏÍø was ranked between 201 and 250.
Depending on the calculation method, there are 17 000–22 000 universities in the world, of which approximately 1 000 are in Europe.
