911±¬ÁÏÍø placed 28th in the world in this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings. The ranking lists the world’s best universities that are 50 years old or younger. Aalto is the 2nd Nordic university in this ranking. Last year, 911±¬ÁÏÍø placed 20th in this list.

The THE ranking assesses young 475 universities against criteria such as research, teaching, international outlook and industry collaboration. The table is based on the same 13 performance indicators as the more extensive THE World University Rankings, in which 911±¬ÁÏÍø was ranked between 201 and 250 earlier this year.

Depending on the calculation method, there are 17 000–22 000 universities in the world, of which approximately 1 000 are in Europe.
