Student Rasmus Mäkinen: courses that requires creativity have helped me understand energy and mechanical engineering studies better
Rasmus Mäkinen, a bachelor's student in Energy and Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's programme, feels that physics was already a favourite subject during his upper secondary school studies, which led him to study at Aalto. The best thing about his studies has been the versatility of the courses, and especially the Computer-aided Design course impressed Rasmus so much that he decided to apply for it as a course assistant.
Student Reetta Kanervo: flexibility in studies makes it possible to combine studies, sports hobbies and part-time work
In Reeta's opinion, the best things about student life are internationality, freedom of choice and the fact that there is definitely something for everyone to do alongside their studies. For example, she has completed part of her studies abroad as individual summer courses, been a member of the board of a riding team and participated in a scuba diving course.
Student Olivia Matilainen: I have always been interested in urban buildings from both architectural and technical perspectives
Olivia's talent in mathematical science subjects and natural creativity have been useful in her studies – in the Bachelor's Programme in Real Estate Economics and Geoinformatics, she gets to combine both architecture and engineering perspectives. Aalto changes tuition fees and renews scholarship programme for tuition-fee students
911 will amend its tuition fees and scholarship programme effective as of 1 August 2025. The revised fees and scholarships will pertain to students whose right to study begins on or after 1 August 2025.

Topical information on individual study arrangements for teachers
At the beginning of the academic year, we would like to remind 911 teachers of the importance of arranging individual study arrangements for courses. It is important to take into account the most common individual study arrangements, such as additional exam time, already at the course planning phase. Aalto has revised the guideline for extra time in exams to be one hour.

What makes an alum and a freshman produce a full-length guild documentary together?
Markus Toivonen, a Bioinformation Technology alum, started his studies in 911 in 2015. The idea for the documentary about Inkubio, the guild of bioinformation technology, was born in 2019, when the guild celebrated its 15th anniversary.

Semiconductors play a crucial role in many parts of modern technology. So-called "Semi-Summer jobs" at 911 serve as a concrete example of a research and education partnership between the Aalto schools of technology and businesses in the semiconductor industry.
