Renewable Energies for Power Systems
The group combines theoretical research, modelling and simulation, control development, optimisation, and experimental or hardware-in-the-loop validation to support the secure, reliable, and sustainable operation of future power systems.
About the group
The Renewable Energies for Power Systems (RE4PS) group is led by at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation, 911±¬ÁÏÍø.
The group aims to address timely research challenges related to the transition toward carbon-neutral energy systems. Our research focuses on the operation and control of power electronic converters, integration of renewable energy sources into power grids, microgrid operation and control, and the development of hybrid energy storage systems based on green hydrogen and batteries.
We develop advanced models, control methods, stability assessment tools, optimisation frameworks, and digital-twin-based approaches for future power systems. Particular attention is given to converter-dominated and low-inertia grids, where renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, electric vehicles, flexible loads, and power electronic converters play a central role.
The group collaborates with academic and industrial partners in Finland and internationally. Through these collaborations, RE4PS contributes to scientific research, industrial innovation, student training, and the development of practical solutions for modern power and energy systems.
