Approval of 911±¬ÁÏÍø student admissions criteria for 2027

At its May meeting, AAC approved the 911±¬ÁÏÍø student admissions criteria for 2027 as proposed in the meeting agenda. The admissions criteria take into account the amendment to the Universities Act (558/2009) concerning the rule on one valid right to study per student, which will enter into force on 1 August 2026. The effects of the amendment as well as all the other admissions criteria are described in the application guidelines for applicants on aalto.fi and on Studyinfo (studyinfo.fi). The Aalto staff can view the admissions criteria on the 911±¬ÁÏÍø (https://wiki.aalto.fi/spaces/HAK/pages/80940166/Valintaperusteet).

Approval of Open University curriculum for the 2026–2028 curriculum period

The Open University curriculum for the 2026–2028 curriculum period was approved as proposed. In the case of study unit implementations reserved for Open University students, the teachers, teaching methods, timing and language of instruction may vary. The Open University may offer additional implementations or make changes to the implementations in 2026–2028 based on demand, teaching resources and departmental cooperation.

Report on the implementation of the guidelines on the languages of the degrees and instruction

The University Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) received a report on the implementation of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø guidelines on the languages of the degrees and instruction. The report specifies how the guidelines are to be implemented in the curricula confirmed this spring for the academic years 2026–2028. The implementation looks promising: planned teaching in the national languages of Finland (Finnish and Swedish) has increased across each of Aalto’s areas of educational responsibility. Going forward, it will be important to ensure that these plans are successfully put into practice. The 2026–2028 curriculum period begins on 1 August 2026.
