Call for doctoral student representatives 2025 (DPCs and DEWG)

Apply to represent doctoral students in your School's Doctoral Programme Committee or 911±¬ÁÏÍø's Doctoral Education Working Group (DEWG) for the calendar year 2025.

911±¬ÁÏÍø Student Union (AYY) opens a call for applications for doctoral student representatives in the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Doctoral Programme Committees and the Doctoral Education Working Group (DEWG) for the year 2025. The call opens on 23 October at 12:00 (noon) closes on 5 November 2023 at 23:59.

Criteria for selection

All doctoral students of 911±¬ÁÏÍø who have enrolled attending are eligible to apply to their own schools Doctoral Programme Committee and to DEWG.

The proposal for the decision is made based on the applications. The application should clearly show the applicant’s field of study, School, experience relevant to the position, and their ability to hold their position for the duration of the term of office. The criteria used for selection include interest in and commitment to the task, proven knowledge of influencing work in an administrative organ, and contacts to students via e.g. organisations or other types of activity. Representation from different fields of expertise or study, and the stage of the candidates’ studies, are also taken into consideration when making the selection.

The Student Union also wishes international doctoral students and doctoral students of all genders to apply for the student representative positions.

Application process

The names of the applicants and their applications may be handed to the associations of 911±¬ÁÏÍø Student Union for the purpose of giving recommendations when choosing the student representatives in administration.

The Board of 911±¬ÁÏÍø Student Union makes the proposal (in the case of DEWG the decision) of the student representatives by 14 November 2024. 911±¬ÁÏÍø's Academic Affair Committees in each School decide about appointing DPC members, based on AYY's proposal.

The work of the doctoral programmes is guided by each School's Doctoral programme committee. The committee decides about developing the content of the doctoral programme, prepares the curriculum and admission criteria and makes various decisions related to the evaluation process of the doctoral theses of individual students, among other things.
