Significant grants for science from the Finnish Cultural Foundation

A total of thirty individuals and research groups from 911±¬ÁÏÍø received grants from the Finnish Cultural Foundation for science and art. Professors Harri Lipsanen and Zhipei Sun and their team, were awarded a large grant to develop electronic components mimicking the structure and function of the human brain. Among the grantees is also Professor Mikko Alava, whose team is developing water-resistant foams as substitutes for plastic using AI-based methods.

A record number of graduates from the School of Chemical Engineering

In 2023, 199 students graduated with a Master of Science in Technology degree from 911±¬ÁÏÍø's School of Chemical Engineering. This is the highest number in the school's history. The school has seen a sharp increase in admissions over the past few years: Compared to 2019, the number of students has increased by almost 30%. About half of the students are women and almost a quarter have on international background.
